About WiDS Texas Datathon 2021

WiDS Texas is an independent event that is organized by WiDS Texas Ambassadors as part of the annual WiDS Worldwide conference organized by Stanford University and an estimated 150+ locations worldwide, which features outstanding women doing outstanding work in the field of data science. All genders are invited to attend all WiDS Worldwide conference events.

The WiDS Texas Datathon aims to inspire women to learn more about data science, and to create a supportive environment for women to connect with others in their community who share their interests. We invite anyone from those new to data science to veterans of the field to participate. For those who have never tried machine learning or worked with time series forecasting before, we will host a series of tutorials to help you get started.

This year's challenge will focus on electricity load forecasting. Load forecasting is the predicting of electrical power required to meet the short or long-term demand. The forecasting helps utility companies plan on their capacity to keep the electricity running in every household and business.
